Danshig Tsam
Tsam
Tsam festival is located in the middle of steppe in the suburb where you can reach by 1hr of car drive from Ulaanbaatar in August every year. There are many of food stands and activities such as archery game, horse back ride. Many of visitors from all over Mongolia took own cars and parks in the field. They even built tents to stay during the festival.

On the first day, there was Mongolian wrestling in the main circle venue.

Day 2
On the second day, my coordinator took me to the main field same as Mongolian wrestling on yesterday to see Tsam dancing rather than horse race begin which has been postponing over 1 hour.
She asked the security, actually it's police man to put me into the middle of the field as Photographer. We showed him my big camera hanging on my neck because I didn't have journalist pass Lol

All the dancers are buddhist monks, they train for 3 months, and they don't sleep the night before the festival for the meditation.

Important monks are seating and got served lots of food in the front.

We took a walk around the field to check horse race and have some food at food stands. Dancers were dancing in the line at the finale.

The other side of the field, there was huge tapestry.

It took over 6hrs. All the seats are full with the audience. I'm sure that it is very important event for the people.
Tsam festival is depicting Tibetan Buddhist story, by using many different characters of animals costume of Stags, Cows, Fire, Skull.

Homestay in Ger~

I was invited to a family who live in
Altanbulag in the suburb of Ulaanbaataar. Father of coordinator knows someone who knows this man in here.

This is my bed in this family for homestay. There is a son who can speak a bit of english, he helped me so many time up here.
This family owns cows, sheeps, goats and horses, mainly selling milk from cow for big company.

Pogo and his father

They wake up when it's dawn then start collecting milk before the breakfast.
I tried many times but didn't last that long because it hurts my arms so quickly.

They serve you milk tea at home when you visit as family or guest. It is very common.
In this picture I tried beef and noodle soup.

One day, I had chance to watch horse race in the next town. It is town match, winner can go to next big race.
They told me the location is the other side of that mountain after this mountain with finger pointing. Took 30-45mins by car on unpaved road.

There were many horse gathered already. Many families are preparing the riders, normally their parents. Horse are 2 years old young, so that riders are young and lighter, some looks like 4-5 year old.
Start point is 2km away in the behind of hills, you don't see it from gaol point we moved to. There are not much artificial stuff here, simply green field mostly.

Horses are really important and also their pride.
One day small kids in the family told me don't cross the stick with rope to catch horse. It is sacred item.

The neighborhood
Next door would be tiny white point(it's ger actually) on the hill like 1km away.

Shepard
Shepard, one day Pogo(the son) told me that let's go to take sheeps back from pasture. He took me on his motor bike and drove for a few km.
The kids in the family joined us to take sheeps, they are on the horse without saddle

Soccer

I played soccer with kids on the last day after 4 nights of home stay until car picks me up.
It was quite dangerous to play here because so much poops on the ground, it splashes to you with the ball. Goal keeper is tough position.

Collage Workshop~
Start up Marketing Service

I had lecture in the first 1hr, then moved onto actual collage making.

Work shop was promoted by most popular newsmedia in Mongolia, and find participants on Facebook. It included my interview. I still very much appreciate all the support by Startuo Marketing Space and Tamir from Showa from Japan. Also big thank to Cegy for the trainslating JP-MN!

I was also introduced on the biggest news site in Mongolia
