Genealogy
In his exhibition Genealogy", Nagao is showing selected art works from the past five years including three new pieces created in 2019, and two special edition works from Mexico in 2016 (#wondercolors_mx) and Namibia in 2017 (#wondertribe_namibia). Nagao's passion and curiosity about our cultural roots is reflected in his collage works, in which he bridges indigenous traditions with our modern society. However, he is also confronting us with a progressing loss of diversity in a world, which is taking strong and rapid tendencies of over-integration and creation of a common standard at the expense of our cultural heritage. Nagao wants to communicate that a culturally rich future needs our distinct cultural backgrounds and uniqueness, which has been passed down to us from our ancestors.
Are we able to preserve these cultures for our future descendants? How will the genealogy continue?
